Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a portfolio of Dh2.1 trillion in active projects spanning housing, transport, aviation, infrastructure and economic development. He described the emirate as building "a city within a city," with momentum he called continuous.

The real estate component alone totals Dh1.1 trillion through 2030, covering roughly 350,000 planned residential units. On the aviation side, Al Maktoum International Airport will receive Dh128 billion in investment, while Dh328 billion has been earmarked for fleet expansion and a further Dh18.7 billion for an Emirates maintenance complex.

Ground transport is set to benefit from Dh100 billion allocated to road upgrades and the expansion of the Dubai Metro's Blue and Gold lines. The Dubai International Financial Centre will receive more than Dh100 billion for its second development phase, and Dh10 billion is earmarked for expanding the Dubai Exhibition Centre.

On the utilities and environment front, Dh80 billion will fund new sewerage tunnels, Dh30 billion a dedicated rainwater drainage programme, Dh151 billion upgrades to power and water grids, and Dh4 billion the expansion of green spaces.

Taken together, the figures illustrate the scale of Dubai's current development drive across nearly every sector of city-building, from airports and transit to utilities and housing. Officials say the projects reinforce Dubai's ambition to remain a global hub for trade, tourism and residential living, with work across these fronts proceeding in parallel rather than sequentially.
