Sharjah Police have released footage of a traffic accident showing a vehicle running a red light without slowing down and colliding with a taxi that was turning in from an adjacent road. The crash was fully captured on surveillance cameras, and police released the clip to raise public awareness about the risks of ignoring traffic signals.
In response to the incident, Sharjah Police stressed that "road safety is a shared responsibility" and urged all drivers to stop fully at red lights, follow traffic regulations in full, and stay alert and focused while behind the wheel. Officers added that "a moment of haste could have serious consequences for drivers and other road users." Sharjah Police regularly shares footage of real accidents and traffic violations with the public as part of its ongoing road-safety awareness campaigns, aiming to highlight the dangers of disregarding traffic signals at junctions.
Running a red light remains one of the most serious traffic violations in the UAE, carrying not only a financial fine but also black points on the driver's licence record. Traffic authorities have once again called on all motorists to exercise extra caution when approaching intersections.
