The Dubai Fountain, one of the emirate's best-known tourist landmarks set in Burj Lake between Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, is undergoing a visible transformation. New silver, reflective metallic structures with curved, petal-like sections have begun appearing across sections of the lake, releasing cascading streams of water that create a striking visual effect against the backdrop of Burj Khalifa. Installation work is still under way.
Developed by Emaar and originally designed by California-based WET Design, the fountain first opened in 2009 and has since become one of Dubai's most photographed attractions, drawing millions of visitors each year to its nightly water-and-music performances. The complex underwent a five-month closure through much of 2025 for a first phase of renovation, including re-tiling, waterproofing and repainting, which wrapped up in October 2025.
The new silver installations form part of a second phase of enhancements planned for 2026. The designers behind this latest addition have not been officially named, and no completion date has been confirmed, but the pace of installation suggests Emaar intends to keep the experience fresh for the steady flow of tourists who pass through Downtown Dubai throughout the year.
The Dubai Fountain performs multiple shows nightly and remains one of the most popular photo spots in the city. The addition of these reflective new structures is expected to bring a fresh visual dimension to the evening performances, likely renewing attention from both visitors and media around one of Downtown Dubai's most recognisable attractions as the second phase of works continues.
