Apple opened pre-orders for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, in the UAE on Friday, October 16, at 4pm local time, with deliveries starting October 23. The device arrives as the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever sold, with prices starting at Dh8,499 for the 256GB model and rising to Dh9,349 for 512GB, Dh11,049 for 1TB and Dh13,599 for the top 2TB configuration.
Closed, the iPhone Duo shows a 5.4-inch outer display, roughly the size of the discontinued iPhone mini. Unfolded, it reveals a 7.6-inch inner screen. Both panels are 120Hz OLED, and the inner display carries a nano-texture coating designed to cut glare and make the fold's crease less visible when the phone is open.
Inside, the Duo runs on the A20 Pro chip, the same silicon found in the iPhone 18 Pro. Its camera system sticks to two lenses with no telephoto option, and unlocking relies on Touch ID rather than Face ID. The titanium-framed body weighs 254g and carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Two separate batteries, one in each half of the device, combine to deliver up to 24 hours of typical use.
Compared with Apple's Pro lineup, the Duo skips a telephoto camera, the Action button and ProRes video recording, trade-offs Apple appears to have made to keep the folding mechanism viable. UAE customers who placed orders on launch day can expect their units from next Thursday, when the phone officially goes on sale across Apple's retail and carrier partners in the country.
