Meta has begun selling its latest generation of AI-powered smart glasses in the UAE, adding the country to a short list of four new launch markets alongside Singapore, South Korea and Mexico. Customers can now place orders immediately through Meta's retail channels.

The entry-level Meta Glasses start at Dh1,160, while the new Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 model is priced from Dh1,960. Both join the previously available Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Oakley Meta lines already sold in the country, giving UAE shoppers one of the widest smart-eyewear lineups in the region.

The third-generation Ray-Ban Meta features a slimmer frame, a new action button for faster access to the Meta AI assistant, and extended battery life. The range includes Aviator and Zena frame styles along with Ivory and Starfire finishes for the standard Meta Glasses. Every model carries an LED capture indicator, a visible light that signals to bystanders when the built-in camera is recording, addressing privacy concerns that have followed smart-glasses products since their debut.

Meta says it plans to expand the lineup to more than 100 styles across its glasses brands by the end of the year. Muse, the company's AI companion app that logged 2.8 million downloads within 12 days of release, remains limited to the US, Canada and Mexico for now, with no confirmed date for a UAE rollout.

The company also confirmed a separate virtual-reality headset, Meta VR Glasses, is scheduled to launch in select Quest markets in spring 2027.

The UAE launch underscores how Gulf markets, and Dubai in particular, are increasingly treated as early-adopter territory by global technology firms rolling out wearable AI hardware, reflecting both high smartphone penetration and strong consumer appetite for premium gadgets in the emirate.
