American Hospital Dubai, working with Al Naghi Medical and Intuitive, has introduced the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system to the Gulf Cooperation Council region for the first time. The hospital already runs the earlier da Vinci Xi and da Vinci SP single-port systems, the latter itself the first of its kind in the Middle East when it arrived.
The fifth-generation platform carries more than 150 engineering upgrades over previous models. Chief among them is Force Feedback technology, which lets surgeons sense the pressure their instruments apply to tissue in real time, something earlier robotic systems could not convey. The system also adds higher-resolution 3D imaging and roughly 10,000 times more computing power than prior generations, giving surgeons finer control during minimally invasive procedures.
Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, said the hospital remains committed to investing in technologies that elevate patient care and surgical excellence. Mona Qaisi of Al Naghi Medical said the partnership reflects a shared mission to advance robotic surgery across the Middle East.
With da Vinci 5 now operating in Dubai, patients in the region will have access to one of the world's most advanced robotic surgery platforms without travelling abroad. Surgeons at the hospital are expected to use the system across a broad range of complex procedures, including urological and gynaecological surgery, where the added precision and tactile feedback are seen as particularly valuable. The rollout adds to Dubai's push to position itself as a regional hub for advanced medical technology and specialised surgical care.
