Dubai's Endowment and Minors' Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) has launched a new healthcare endowment called "Waqf Tadawi," backed by an investment of Dh6.5 million, aimed at providing sustainable financial support for patients in need at Al Tadawi Healthcare Group facilities.

The endowment property sits on a 2,515-square-foot plot in Al Satwa, Dubai, and comprises three residential floors along with retail outlets and service facilities. Rental income generated from the property will be channelled directly toward covering treatment costs for patients who cannot afford care, regardless of their nationality.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, and Essa Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Awqaf Dubai. Officials described the initiative as part of a broader push to expand endowment-based funding models within the healthcare sector, ensuring long-term financial support for low-income patients rather than relying on one-off donations.

Al Tadawi Healthcare Group, which hosts the initiative, already operates multiple medical facilities across Dubai. Officials expect the endowment to help cover treatment costs for humanitarian cases requiring urgent medical assistance, particularly among residents with limited income.

Local authorities framed the project as a model for collaboration between the charitable and healthcare sectors in Dubai, suggesting it could serve as a template for similar endowments in other emirates. The launch is part of Awqaf Dubai's ongoing strategy to diversify its endowment portfolio toward social and medical infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai's broader efforts to strengthen safety-net healthcare funding for underserved communities.
