The fourth edition of the Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference (SACC) opens today, October 22, and runs through October 25 at Aljada in Sharjah. According to Gulf News, the four-day event brings together Pixar animators Andrew Gordon and Doug Sweetland, who will speak ahead of a screening of Toy Story, alongside a showing of The Glassworker, Pakistan's first hand-drawn animated feature, with director Usman Riaz in attendance.
Organisers have lined up three live concerts featuring anime orchestral scores and Disney classics, while a cosplay competition offers a Dh25,000 prize pool as one of the event's main draws. The programme includes more than 75 speakers across over 40 talks and more than 55 workshops, alongside gaming tournaments in titles such as Super Smash Bros., EA Sports FC 27 and Tekken 8.
An Artist Alley, trading-card vendors and arcade games round out the convention floor. Ticket prices range from Dh85 for students to Dh135 for general entry, Dh280 for a business pass and Dh3,000 for a premium pass, Gulf News reported.
Now in its fourth year, SACC has grown into one of the region's largest gatherings for anime, comics and gaming fans, and this year's international guest list gives visitors a broader mix of film, music and interactive entertainment across the four-day run.
