The UAE's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research says it has stepped up oversight of universities, technical institutes and training centres using digital tools and artificial intelligence, aiming to catch violations early and safeguard students' rights. 3,970 digital advertisements from educational institutions were monitored since the start of this year, with only 88 flagged as non-compliant — a compliance rate of roughly 98 per cent. The ministry also carried out 228 regulatory visits and inspection campaigns, resulting in 32 corrective action plans, 84 per cent of which have already been completed by the institutions involved.
Alongside advertising and licensing checks, officials conducted around 90 field visits to verify the quality of practical training programmes, reviewing the training of 441 students across 90 institutions and companies. The inspections focused on programme accreditation, transparency of information given to students, academic integrity, and the standard of hands-on training.
The ministry described the push as part of a "proactive oversight" policy designed to identify and resolve problems before they affect students, rather than reacting after complaints are filed. The initiative fits into the UAE's broader effort to safeguard the quality of its higher-education system and maintain families' confidence in domestic institutions as the number of universities and training providers in the country continues to grow.
