New data shows nature-based and eco-tourism accommodations in Sharjah saw a rise in guests during August. According to Shaikha Al Shamsi, Senior Director of Marketing at Shurooq, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, resorts and hotels under Sharjah Collections, managed by Minor Hotels, recorded a five percent increase in guests in August 2026 compared with the same month last year.
Al Shamsi attributed the growth to rising demand for authentic, nature-based experiences. "A lot of people from different emirates are showing huge interest because Sharjah provides authentic and natural experiences—you interact with nature itself, which you find a lot in Sharjah. This is what keeps us unique," she said.
The news comes as Shurooq announced expansion plans for its Al Faya Retreat, located in Sharjah's Mleiha region next to a Unesco World Heritage-listed site. Under the plan, the retreat's existing five rooms will be converted into a spa, while 20 new cabins, built entirely in Latvia, will be added to the site. The cabins are currently en route by ship and are expected to arrive within the coming months.
The nearby Moon Retreat, offering ten domes and six private tents overlooking the desert, is also part of Sharjah's growing roster of nature-focused stays. Sharjah Collection, launched by Shurooq and managed by Minor Hotels, includes a range of boutique hotels, nature-led resorts and glamping experiences across the emirate.
