Indian carrier IndiGo revised its fuel surcharge on UAE-India routes effective October 6, 2026, a change travel agents in Dubai say will push ticket prices higher for passengers flying between the two countries. the adjustment could add roughly Dh200 to the cost of a single ticket, meaning a family of four travelling together could pay up to Dh800 more for the same trip.

Bharath Aidasani of Pluto Travels told the publication that the actual increase passengers see will vary depending on when the ticket is booked, overall demand for the route and how many seats remain available, meaning not every traveller will face an identical price jump.

The UAE-India corridor is among the busiest air routes in the world, carrying a large volume of traffic tied to the sizeable Indian community living across the UAE, including Dubai. Any rise in fares on these routes tends to have an outsized effect on household travel budgets, particularly around peak periods such as the year-end holiday season.

IndiGo has not publicly detailed the exact size of the fuel surcharge increase or the reasoning behind the timing of the change. Travel agents are advising passengers planning near-term trips to book early, warning that further fare increases could follow if demand on the route continues to climb heading into the winter travel season.
