Apple has introduced its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro, featuring a new ProLED XDR touch display available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. The screens use Tandem OLED technology and reach a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, which Apple describes as the brightest and highest-contrast display it has ever shipped on a MacBook Pro.

The new models are powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and come equipped with a six-speaker sound system, three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, a MagSafe charging port and a headphone jack. One notable design change in this generation is the return of the glowing Apple logo on the lid, a feature the company had removed from MacBook models years ago.

Pre-orders for the new laptops have already opened, with official availability starting on November 6. The base 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip starts at $2,899, while M5 Max configurations are priced between $4,499 and $4,799.

The launch comes as Apple has faced growing competitive pressure in recent years from touchscreen Windows laptops, and the addition of touch support to the Pro line can be read as a direct response to that market shift. Professional users in design, video editing and content creation are expected to be the primary audience for the new model, which Apple is positioning as its most capable MacBook Pro to date.
