Organisers of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open have confirmed the fifth edition of the WTA tournament will run from January 30 to February 6, 2027, at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City. The event, now firmly established on the Gulf's sporting calendar, will carry a prize purse of $1.2 million, with 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams competing across eight days of play.
The announcement comes just months after the 2026 edition drew more than 60,000 spectators and produced one of the tournament's most memorable storylines. Czech qualifier Sara Bejlek fought her way through the draw to beat Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final, claiming her first ever WTA Tour title in Abu Dhabi. The tournament also made history last year as the first WTA-only event to stage a wheelchair tennis competition, a move organisers point to as evidence of the event's broader commitment to inclusivity in the sport.
For the anniversary edition, organisers are introducing a new Village Pass programme priced at Dh10 a day, giving spectators access to entertainment areas, coaching clinics and side activities around the courts, while children under 12 will be admitted free during the opening weekend. The additions suggest the tournament is looking beyond star power alone to build a fuller experience for families and casual fans. With five years now behind it, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has grown into one of the region's signature sporting fixtures, drawing elite players to the capital each winter while expanding what it offers spectators on the ground.
