Etihad Rail has opened ticket sales for its new Dubai-Abu Dhabi passenger service, set to officially launch on September 30. Tickets can be purchased through the operator's website, etihadrail.ae, or its mobile app, though online sales were briefly paused shortly after going live, with the company saying bookings would resume soon.
The new Dubai terminal, Al Yalayis Station, sits in Jumeirah Golf Estates and connects directly to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, giving passengers an easy transfer between the metro network and the national rail line. Trains will terminate at Mohammed Bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi. Comfort Class fares start at Dh39 one way, while Premium Class tickets are available from Dh109. The journey is expected to take around 57 minutes, positioning rail as a competitive alternative to driving between the two emirates.
This marks the second active passenger route for Etihad Rail, following the Abu Dhabi-Fujairah line launched in June, which has already sold more than 70,000 tickets — a sign of strong demand for rail travel among UAE residents.
The new line is part of Etihad Rail's broader national network plan, which aims to eventually connect more cities across the UAE, offering a fast, affordable and sustainable option for daily travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
