Passengers flying through Dubai International Airport on Monday were still dealing with knock-on effects from Sunday's disruption, even as most departures ran close to schedule. Several flydubai services from Central Asia and Russia landed late: the Almaty flight was delayed 52 minutes, the Tashkent flight 64 minutes, and the Dushanbe flight touched down at 9:07am instead of its scheduled 7:50am. Flights from Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Bishkek also ran behind. An Emirates flight to London Heathrow was pushed back from 6:40am to 8:30am.
The delays trace back to a mix of regional tensions in the Middle East and the continued fallout from the Russia-Ukraine war on Russian airports — a Ukrainian drone strike on Moscow on September 19 had already delayed more than 400 flights there. On Sunday, more than 40 flights across UAE airports were delayed or cancelled, though Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport was operating largely on schedule by 8am Monday.
Airport officials are advising travellers to check directly with their airline before heading to the airport, as scattered delays remain possible over the coming days while regional flight schedules stabilise.
