Red Dunes Games, an Abu Dhabi-based video game publisher founded by Sultan Al Darmaki and Mohamed Al Jneibi, is occupying one of the largest booths in Hall 7 at Makuhari Messe for Tokyo Game Show 2026 — a striking jump from 2023, when the studio only shared space on someone else's stand.
The company unveiled nine titles this year, including Port of Jumanah, developed with Indonesian studio Agate; Zozo and the Lost Dreams; Nightmare Circus; Blades of Mirage, another Indonesian collaboration; LightSup!, made by Thai developer BugBlio Studio; Katuba's Poacher, from South Korean designer Joe Yu; and Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past, developed with Dutch studio Blast Zero.
The booth itself draws on a souq-inspired design echoing the architecture of Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed market, aimed at conveying the emirate's hospitality to visiting industry professionals and fans. Co-founder Sultan Al Darmaki said the studio is now aiming to build games with significantly larger scope than before.
Among the company's other recent milestones is the addition of the Yas Marina Circuit to Gran Turismo 7 in December 2025, the result of two and a half years of collaboration. The revival of the Samurai Pizza Cats franchise has also drawn unexpectedly strong interest from Japanese audiences. Red Dunes says it is now working with several well-loved international IPs, though further details have not yet been disclosed.
